We were outta town during the holidays visiting family and never felt that I needed to check out Target for the day after sale. I remembered during last year's holiday sales that my sister went the following week and got cool wrap for 75% off. I was hoping that I would do the same.
It's been a tradition with my sisters to shop at Target among other retailers for the best bargains, replenishing the holiday stash for next year. On December 26 at 9:30am while I was driving to the hair styliest appt, I called my sisters to see how their shopping bonanza was doing. One sister was disappointed with the goods. Most ornaments were gone and the gift wrap was not the regular stylish prints like recent years. She was disappointed with the tissue, stockings, etc. and then offered to get me stuff. I told her no worries.
Upon our return to home, I checked out my stash and realized that we are low on the goods. So we set out for Target on Sunday, December 28. Geez, there was nothing there. No gift wrap...just some straggler ornaments and odds and ends of stockings & stuff. We sent off for Target #2. A bit better but not worth buying much. I did get some large gift bags. We called my sister about another Target 40 minutes away that may have some stuff. So that evening we set off Target #3. There were more items to choose from. Phew.
We replenished our gift wrap stash and bought a set of gift boxes and cookie cutter set. I think we're set for the next couple of xmas's. But I must say that I am disappointed with the holiday wrapping paper. I only like 1 or maybe 2 of the rolls in the set of 4 rolls. Whereas, the last couple of years Target carried good looking wraps. Or, maybe I should've gone December 26.

Bringing things Home
I'll admit that I still have a few things at my parents' house. And of course, they've been asking for a while to clean up the house by removing our things, which is causing them clutter. I get it. They need their space back.
I've been slowly bringing a box back here and there and above this piece of furniture, I found an oval wooden bowl filled with souvenirs from my trip to Mexico. That trip was my first out of the US trip without my parents. So, like any big trip on my own, it was filled with lots of culture, interesting people and exciting things to do.
Looking at the glassware and the pitcher brought back memories. The glassware was wrapped in newspaper now turned yellow with the printed date of 1982! My first instinct was to figure out a way to save these yellowing pieces of newspaper, representing occurrences in the past. Second thought, I couldn't keep anymore interesting items knowing that I have more things to get from my parents' house.
