The Illusion to Travel

For an evening, I convinced myself that I along with my husband can bring a 2.5 yr old and a 6 month old baby to Shanghai. I thought if we could stay there for a month that would make the plane ride and time change worth the trip.

Then I woke up. I remember the 3-4 hour plane ride when our kid was 19 months old and the challenges that went along with it.

I must give kudo's to the parents who do it. I read about it all the time, taking young children out of the country and on long plane rides. Was it worth it?

I felt a little young ...

After the kid went to bed, I adventured to a stationary store for some scapbooking stuff. The store had some diecuts that I wanted to check out as containers for an upcoming bridal shower. I couldn't believe that I went out at 9:30pm...it felt like the good ole days of running out spontaneously to do something fun.

Stranger stealing from Donation Bag

You've received those postcards on the mail from non-profit groups requesting for unwanted items for their causes. I've left bags outside and found out that bags were missing or partially gone. Finally, I caught someone in front of another house doing that very thing!
Like a spy, I watched this person rummage through that garbage bag, picking through the items, and walked off with 2 shoe boxes. Then, this person walked further down the block and opened more bags in front of another home and did the same thing. There was another pedestrian walking by and this guy just looked up and nodded his head.
A part of me understand that this person is desperate enough to rummage items dedicated to non-profit organizations. But on the otherhand, this items are meant for those people. I would love to claim that this act is on border of stealing but when it is unwanted possessions afterall.

I love taking our kid to Academy of Sciences. The kid can see his favorite turtles and can eat at the cafe. I was glancing through the beverage section and noticed these stacks of jars..brown color. I picked it up and saw the label. Hmmm. First thought: delicious. The kid's meals are mostly healthy afterall he's not even 2 yet. So, I snuck it home and ate it during his nap. Unbelievable.

Impact by Swine Flu?

We went to the Tiny Tots class and half the people showed up today. The place was practically empty. I suspect that the low attendance is due to the swine flu. Although there's no case in our city yet, people probably didn't want to take their chances.

Now that the WHO raised the situation to level 5, we will probably stay at home tomorrow. Thank goodness we have the internet to catch the latest news immediately instead of waiting for the 5pm or 11pm news report!

Read the Sign

I am in line at the grocery store and this person next to me asks the cashier, "I'm doubled park at the red zone, right outside these doors. Is this ok?"

Fortunately, the clerk tells this person that this is illegal and a fine would be warranted.

This person responded, " Well, I asked the parking guard who said that parking at the red was fine."

The clerk just repeated himself.

I thought this person was nuts and ignorant trying to reason with the store clerk like if the cops showed up, gave a ticket, the store would back her up.

I turned and said, "The red zone is for the fire truck. In case there's a fire, a fire truck needs to park there to save our lives."

What an idiot. Rushed or not, there is plenty of parking and there is absolutely no need to park at the red. Just read the sign.

My Old Possessions

I've been slowly bringing back my possessions from my parents' house. I've found many old things that have caused me to wonder if it ever goes bad being 15+ years old.

clear nail polish that was used to stop runs on my pantyhose.
perfumes like Givenchy, Tresor, and Chanel
color hair bands (which feel brittle so that was trashed)
nail polish remover (still 1/2 a bottle left)

I was going to search the internet b/c a flash thought: to keep these things. NOT.
